Holy Grail

In my dream I had a vision of you--
       Pure
       Divine
       Immortal
You descended from above--
       Slowly
       Heavenly
       Cloaked in a radiant glow
I felt your power as you came to me--
       Warming me
       Soothing me
       Caressing me
I saw all that you had to offer--
       Eternal Life
       Eternal Hope
       Eternal Love
I extended my hands to you--
       Needing you
       Desiring you
       Wanting to possess you
As quickly as you appeared, you vanished--
       Teasing me
       Seducing me
Not wanting to be possessed so easily
I set out on my quest--
       Day and night I ride
       Searching for you
       Praying for you
Where are you, my Holy Grail--
Let me be worthy of you
       Let me possess you
       Let me drink from you

Cursed Words

Eros
Childish god
Impish devil
Stringing your bow with your silken thread
Steadying two golden arrows
Thrust through my heart
Torn
Bleeding
Tormenting God
As the tears well in my eyes
The yearning, the passion, the love
The fear...
All silenced within
Strangling my voice
Cursed words
"I love you"
Hate me, Love me
Feel whatever you will
Simply,
Silently,
I say,
I love you...

Furies

Tortured and tormented
Blinded and silenced
Overcome by these dark clouds and shades
These Erinyes...these Furies
Born from blood
Surrounding me
Hounding me
Retribution, Revenge, Vengeance
Iron claws tearing at my flesh
Clenched around my neck
Dragging me to such depths
Past the river Styx
Past Acheron and Charon with his rotten boat and old coins
Deep into dark-walled Hades
Robbing me of my mind
Robbing me of my soul...

Ensnared

Night falls like a blanket
And Gaia sleeps
By moonlight and shadows we meet
Falling upon a carnal bed
Starving, we feed this hunger
Ravenous, gluttonous
Insatiable...
Hephaestus casts his net
Ensnared, entangled
We are locked together
Mocked by Olympus
Let the gods and goddesses laugh
Or rather
Let them look on with envy
For we are one

Etched with Love

Hot thunder throws peace into chaos
Shaking the shadowed earth
Hypnos takes flight upon black wings
Morpheus descends
Cyprian-born goddess, golden Aphrodite, rises
The winged boy flits and flies behind
With a wry and mischievous smile
I stir and wake
Opening eyes, seeing
A beautiful face, shining,
Etched with love
Your eyes that scatter grace upon me
The gentlest touch sets fire beneath my skin
Rushing, coursing through my blood
Eros, loosener of limbs, irrepressible,
Steals my sight
Deafens my ears with a mad pounding beneath my breast
My mind, awash in a storm...
Rose-fingered Dawn waits
As Athena holds back the hours
And steadies the Night

The Lover's Tale

I've been going through a little drought with my own poetry, but here is a small portion from Tennyson's The Lover's Tale that I like.
In that I live, I love; because I love
I live: whate'er is fountain to the one
Is fountain to the other; and whene'er
Our God unknits the riddle of the one,
There is no shade or fold of mystery
Swathing the other
Those first few lines--"in that I live, I love; because I love, I live"--that is how I try to live my life.

Night descends
Spring showers
Cold, icy rain
The flash of lightning
The rumble of thunder
The perfect marriage of sight and sound
I dream in shades of red tonight
Hypnotized by candlelight
Possessed by Eros
Unsympathetic, unrelenting god
Fingering golden arrows with a smile
Igniting a flame
Insatiable hunger
Unquenchable thirst
Tangled in this web of delight
Envy of Golden Aphrodite
We plunge into unimagined depths
An endless, bottomless pool of desire
Diving, drowning, gasping for breath
Reaching, grasping, embracing
Rising, falling, breathing
Drifting slowly
Blanketed by gentle Hypnos

Spring

White-armed Persephone
Queen of the Dead
Stirs and rises
Ascending from dark-walled Hades
Returning to the light
Joyful tears fill her mother's eyes and fall to the land below
Winter sleeps and Spring is reborn
A gentle breeze, the sweet, musky breath of Spring, stirs new leaves
A cold rain, tears of Demeter, falls and nourishes the thirsty earth
While the earth blossoms
I lie inside, feasting on your lips
Still fresh and sweet and red with wine
I grow drunk and intoxicated
As I lose myself in your flesh
Sweet ambrosia
Succulent nectar
I am one with the gods and goddess on high

Lost

The sun slowly sets
Leaving the lingering light
The sky glows a shade of red
Full moon fades into the passing clouds
The fire burns bright and hot
Illuminating drops of sweat
The glisten of wet lips
A hungry kiss
A gentle caress
A desperate embrace
Lovers lost in time
Lost in flesh
Lost in ecstasy
Lost in flight
Dancing in heaven
